When asking others ‘how did seeing the cats of Milos make you feel’
“I saw numerous pregnant and breastfeeding cats on the street, cats with infections to their paws, mouths, eyes, kittens with bulging eyes, adult cats that were sick and filthy… I heard from many locals that all the cats die once tourists leave.”
“Awful. Terrible. Couldn’t stop crying. Felt hopeless. We went to the only vet on the island to get medicine for a few injured and sick cats, but that was just a drop in the bucket. Milos desperately needs Trap Neuter Release programs.”
“I feel angry because of the municipality and the government doesn’t help us. We are trying for all these years to find a solution and help as much as we can. It’s not true that we keep strays just for tourists… actually it wrecks our reputation.”
“Absolutely heartbroken at times..”
“Horrible, heartbroken, SOBBING on the plane home, a feeling of a pit in my stomach, helpless, depressed, anxious..”
“My heart broke when i was there. I couldn’t stop crying for weeks after returning home.”
“I too was heartbroken to see cats like this. It is cruel, inhumane and also wondering how do I make a difference and make sure this cant continue to happen?”
“It is heartbreaking… we currently live on Naxos and help out the charity there. I wish we could look after every cat, on every island.”
"I was also in Milos last week and so heartbroken about the cats. There was a small kitten in Adamantas that i was especially worried about.”
“I was there in May and left feeling very much the same. Struck by numbers back then..I tried to rescue a sickly tiny cat from Firopotomas.”
“I just got back to San Diego, and I can’t stop thinking about all the sweet kitty’s..”
"I’ve been heartbroken and can’t stand going back to Milos unless it’s to care for the cats. I can only think about the sick, injured and hungry kittens.. One only had one eye, it was so sad. The kittens also seemed to have a cold virus.”
